For project Portal, I helped add and network content and displays into the FCA Portal concept vehicle that was revealed at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show as well as the interior concept and vehicle at the Detroit Auto show. All displays in the vehicle would turn on and sync with the flip of a switch. Most of the custom displays were ran by Brightsign players that were also networked to a few NUC computers that helped provide the content. I like to use POE routers/switches to reduce complexity of wiring during the installs.
OLED displays were used on the front IP as well as lower radio display. To hide the square appearance of the screens, we tinted the glass lens that covered the displays. This reduced brightness a bit, however the overall look was much better as it hid the individual screens that sat side by side, blending them into what looked like one uniform display. Above is some random video I found that shows the displays on.
